I have found some sites that claim to have free resume templates, only to find out after I take 20 minutes to fill them in, they want me to pay in order to use them...oh ya, and for some reason Microsoft Word software is not on my computer, otherwise, I would use their resume templates!

~ In Excel - put all your table numbers along the top.



~ Down the side - put dates, sub-titled with booking times.

I've recently switched from using Lotus Notes for years to Microsoft Outlook (2003 I think). I know how to create and edit signatures, but I don't know how to create templates so that I could simply click on a template and it would include the signature and WHO I want to mail to. I've played around with the "Forms" section in outlook but it looks to crazy and complicated to do what I'm looking to do.

it isn't mostly about what's on the board to get people to come to you, it is the board itself. Our science fair was earlier this year and we got major points for our board. Be creative. Do a black background with neon colors or something like that. Use colors that contradict each other. Go artsy and use warm colors (colors that make you think hot-red, orange, yellow, etc.) against cool colors (think cold - blue, white, green)

I created a coupon page in illustrator but need to make it out of a template so that the person can change the text from time to time.. Also the person that needs the template doesn't have illustrator they have a microsoft software for pc such as word or publisher how can I make this work?

You would have to figure out what type of file you can import into word or publisher. Publisher can be a pain to do that with. Your best bet would be to make sure that they have the same program as you are creating the template in. Otherwise it will be a pain. You can always make the template in illustrator and then export it as a bg image for a word file, so the person editing it would not be able to mess with it, but it would not be able to conform to any new size that they need, and they would only be able to layer things like text on top of it.



Personally, I would try to see if they have something like acrobat writer and export it as an acrobat file or something. Otherwise, I would see if I can try to design the template in the same software as what is going to be editing it.



It is a real pain in the butt otherwise, believe me.

I try to map out each day, and then revise as I go along. I'll write Wednesday 6/27 - Drive to New Orleans, visit Superdome, go on Pensacola (driving time in all, 5 hours), check into certain hotel (with confirmation number, address and phone number). Then, as you look around, you can add potential attractions and stops along the way.



Be sure to check good travel sites for places to go en route.

What's a good, /free/ screeplay/script writing program or template for Word??

This has been driving me crazy for a while. There was one free one that I found, but in order to use it, you had to have a printer connected and everything. I don't have a printer. I was planning on writing it, and then printing it off somwhere else. I have 'Microsoft Office Word 2003', along with a few other Microsoft Office 2003 programs. Is there maybe just a template I could download or something? If all of this isn't applicable. Could you tell me the format that it needs to be written in? (As in the font size, and how far away each section needs to be from the right margin, or how many spaces from the Word preset..) Thanks a lot for whatever you can do.

There are several screenplay/script writing programs, as I am not sure which one would be suitable for what you need I am putting several websites that you may choose the best one for your writing abilities.

How do I make a template or form?

Microsoft Word 2003 - I want to create a form/template with spaces for information. I.e., I want a line called "Name" with space below for complete names not broken into first, last, etc. Then a line called "Relationship Strengths" with space below for notes. (I'll be making several pages worth of questions and spaces for answers) I want a document I can pull up and fill in the spaces 1) without being able to modify any of the original data (i.e."Name" %26amp; "Relationship Strengths") and 2) without being able to save over the original file by accident. I will not be using the forms to organize or sort by any information saved in the spaces and each filled in form will be saved as its own file that can later have the information in the spaces modified as needed.



Can someone get me headed in the right direction?

I only have MS2000, but will assume that many things are the same as 2003. Open MS word and click under file, then new. You should get a popup box with tabs at the top. The General tab should appear by default, but if it does not, click on it. Select blank document. At the bottom right, there should be 2 option buttons, one for document and one for template. Choose the template option and click OK.



I personally feel that inserting tables is the best way to go, because if you start typing lines then they move once you type. You will have to insert each section as a separate table. What I mean by that is, for example, the Name section. This will be one table, Relationship Strengths, another separate table.



Click on Table at the top, click insert, and click table again. All tables you insert will more then likely only need one column. So, Name will be 1 column and 2 rows. Click OK once you have set the column and rows accordingly. Now you will see a table made with 2 long rectangles. If you like to keep them looking that way fine, but you can make them look like separate lines as well. This is very simple. Place your cursor in the top box of the table and right click with your mouse. Select Borders and Shading. On the popup box you receive, you will notice a preview to the right. Click on the areas where you no longer want the lines to be. You should be left with 2 lines on the preview for Name, 1 in the middle and one on the bottom. Click OK. At first you may think it did not work, but click on your print preview button then enlarge if needed. It should look like there are just 2 long horizontal lines there. Click close on the preview.



Now you can type Name in the top box of the table and leave the bottom box empty. Use your down arrow on keyboard to go to the bottom box, then press it 2 more times. This will give you adequate space to insert your second table for Relationship Strengths. Follow the same procedure as above for this table, the only difference will be number of rows (that is up to you). Keep in mind that the title of the section will count as a row, then however many you think you will need for notes. You will follow this same procedure for the entire form you are making. As always, save your work often, maybe after each table made. Keep in mind to just make your initial form here, do not fill in any other info just yet. Once complete, go to Edit, select all, copy, then click on the new blank document icon in the upper left corner of screen. Click paste, then go back to your original form. Click on Tools, select Protect Document, select the Forms option button. You need a password, then you have to enter it a second time. Make sure to write it down so you remember it. Now you should not be able to type anywhere on that form, the cursor should jump to the top, just before Name. Click save. That is your original. Make note of where it is saved at. If you do not know, run a search for it by file name.



Now, you can go to the new document where you pasted the form at. You will be able to fill in the form because that one is not protected. When you want to save it, click on file, and go to "save as". I would suggest saving it under the name you entered.



Now, you have your saved, protected form and one saved form filled out. Use the filled out form, change the name, go to file, "save as", and save it under the new name you just typed in. You can finish filling in the rest of that same form now, then just click the save button icon (because you already have saved it under the file name you wanted). Whenever I use the same forms for different months, I just make sure to use the "save as" option and rename it. Hope this helps you!

Hi, I am trying to design an A5 double sided leaflet? I there a template i could use? I have various programmes in microsoft word and office, but cant find one suitable?



If not, How do i change the paper layout size from A4 to A5? And how do i make the page horizontal?

In word (or any other program) make the page landscape (File %26gt; page setup). Then chose insert columns (or just columns from the ribbon in Word 2007 - make this two with or without the divider (line between). Simply insert another page and do the same, so effectively you end up with two pages with two columns on each - then simply print using duplex mode on your printer so the pages print on each side of the paper, or if not, print page 1 and re-insert the paper into the printer back to front, and print page 2 separately. You can either design it so that you fold down the divider or cut down it. Then if necessary, go back into page setup and change the top/bottom/left/right margins to make more fit on or 'centre' each leaflet.

If you have word, you have all of the tools you need, especially if you have 2002 or newer which includes book fold under page layout. As you mentioned that you are using a trial version of MS Word, check out your computer and see if it came with the free toned down office called MS Works-that too has many blank templates. You can use blank templates to plan your layout. In all versions of word, you can hit New, and it will give you choices such as brochure. You can also under page setup decide if you want your brochure lengthwise or vertical (portrait/landscape). Once your sheet is set up, go to format columns and set it to two columns so you can visually see where the middle of the page is. With regards to your pictures, don't just stretch them, use the format picture so that you can keep the aspect ratio the same when you change the size. If you are currently a paid Internet subscriber, you are entitled to a "homepage" which often contains simple navigation and editing tools. And if you use Microsoft Word, you can easily upload your HTML files to generate a full-blown website as a Homepage.



Nevertheless, the "homepage" URL is likely to be "http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscribe... name" and that URL can easily be overwritten via a redirection service, i.e., "mydomain.com" which allows you to link any registered domain name to "mask" another website. i think you would be better off with dreamweaver you might get a cheap copy on ebay the programme is not easy at first or you could use microsoft front page i printed out the tutorials worked very hard to learn them and also ftp;

1. Learn HTML. There's no way around that. Even if you use a WYSIWYG editor, you'll still need it, 'cause you will run into problems where the editor does not do what you want it to and directly editing the HTML will be your only solution.



2. If you want to create templates, I suggest you give Adobe Dreamweaver a shot, the template function's pretty straightforward once you're into HTML. Whatever editor you end up using, try to avoid Frontpage. Most web hosts charge you extra if you want to use the Frontpage extensions, which you'll be tempted to do when you start using that program and they won't work once you've put the page online if the server does not support those extensions.



3. If you need to use more complex templates and a much more dynamic website, you'll have to start learning PHP. But beware that other than HTML, which is only a markup language, PHP is a programming language and much more complex, so don't try learning PHP before you've understood the basis of webdesign, HTML.



4. Start learning CSS once you know HTML. It will give you all the abilities to design your webpage, like controlling line spacing, background picture handling etc. Even if you can do some of those things in HTML too, CSS is much better and gives you possibilities you could only dream of in HTML.



5. Do never ever use Microsoft Word to create a webpage. The HTML code Word puts out is miles away from any standard and will not work in most browsers other than IE. That's surely not what you want.



Get yourself a good book on (X)HTML and CSS or start reading tutorials on the web. There are lots. You won't get around learning the basics, even if it may seem boring.

What does #Name? mean in Access? How how do I get rid of it?

I downloaded a template for MS Access off of Microsoft Office Online. And I'm trying to edit some of the fields in the form while in Design view. But when I changed the names of the fields its says #NAME?



For example: In the Department location Field it should say which department but it says #Name? in the cells

It means that when you changed the names on the forms, they can no longer map back to a field in the tables that had the name you changed. Basically, the report form has no idea where to draw the information from.

Filtering is pretty easy in Excel.



Go to the heading for the column that you want to filter on (Customer Name). You can select more than one headings at once.



From the menu, pick Data - Filter - Autofilter.



It will give you a little down arrow in the heading.



When you click that, you can pick one of the values, and only the rows that have that value will be displayed, and all the others will be hidden.



One benefit of filtering is that when you're filtering, if you select an area of cells that crosses hidden and visible rows, only the visible data is selected (if you wanted to copy and paste all of one customer's data to another sheet, for example).

The introduction of a data commentary report usually does the following:

a sample of companies in four different manufacturing sectors; Sector A, Sector

that the sample of data analysed for each sector is representative of the entire



population of companies. However a comparison of the data is limited by the



varied number of observations for each sector. The discussion presents an analysis



of the data using descriptive measures of frequency distribution, central tendency



and standard deviation which reveal similar net asset figures between the four



different manufacturing sectors.

The body of the report consists of a series of paragraphs providing an interpretation of the data, and is often referred to as the Discussion or Data Analysis. primary importance to the discussion is presented in the body of the report,

a table or figure may also determine placement in an appendix.



It can be seen from Table 1 that far less samples



were obtained from Sector 3 than the other sectors. This could have resulted



in a significantly lower range because there was less opportunity for an individual



company to have extremely high or low assets. As the number of companies in



each sector increased, so did the sum of their total net assets. This is significant



because it indicates that the majority of companies throughout manufacturing



sectors had similar net asset values.



The general spread of net assets for each sector



can be seen by allocating the raw net asset figures into frequency distributions



and then histograms for each of the four manufacturing sectors . Using



histograms as a graphical representation 'allows us to comprehend the shape



of frequency distribution at a glance' (Harrison and Tamaschke, 1993, p. 91)



and is therefore a quick and easy way to determine the asset distribution for



each sector.

and both means for all manufacturing sectors are close to the suspected 300



$m figure. 'Measure of central tendency is defined as a single term that



is considered most representative of the whole set of data' (Johnson, 1978,



p. 182) thus using a mode for this value would be inappropriate (see Appendix



1) The reason for this is that three of the manufacturing sectors contained



more than one net asset figure as the most common. In Sector 4, the minimum



value was also a modal value, certainly not representing where the majority



of data lies. The problem in using the mode arises from the fact that continuous



data with two decimals is used for the initial net asset values, thus it is



rare that two companies have equal net assets in any given sector.

No, you have to go or a warrant will be issued for you. You need to get there if it has been issued and put yourself on calendar. If you have an attorney, call him or her. Going to court is not an optional thing. If you are ordered to attend, attend.

Why are you missing court? There are very few acceptable excuses for missing court (ie. you are in the hospital or you pass away.) Not much else will excuse you from court, even if you send a letter.
An apology is next to useless.



A valid excuse might help, but don't count on it. You could /should have called when you knew you couldn't make it.
You need to CALL the judge's chambers, and speak with his secretary to find out when the next hearing will be held.



At the same time, explain why you did not show up, and request the Bench Warrant to be dismissed.



A quick call to the top is always the best way to get results.



BTW - If you miss your next court date, again - a bench warrant will be issued for your arrest, and you most likely will be picked up by the Sherif for failure to appear in court.

US version of Word 2007 in the UK?

My version of Word 2007 is from the US and I'm now in the UK. It won't let me use any templates for a new document and says it cannot connect to Microsoft Office Online. On top of which, when I go to Word's website for support it will let me click around but not start a new thread to ask other Word users. Is this because I'm using a US version in the UK? How can I get around this?

Sorry, PowerPoint is commercial software and cannot legally be downloaded without paying for it. You can download a trial version of the latest release of Office from Microsoft.com, and that should give you 30 days to use it. Otherwise, you can download Open Office (http://www.openoffice.org/). It's an open source equivalent of MS Office and does pretty much everything Office does. It contains presentation software called Inspire that works like PowerPoint, and I believe it can save presentations in ppt format. You can also download templates from http://documentation.openoffice.org/Samp... if you'd like.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | File Locations, and note the folder designated for User Templates. It is probably something like "C:\Documents and Settings\%26lt;username%26gt;\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates".



If you downloaded a template from the Microsoft website, then it is probably in a .cab file. In Windows Explorer or My Computer, browse to the folder containing your downloaded template, double-click on the .cab file, and extract the contents to your User Templates folder.



Then in Word, click on File | New, and select the template from the New Document taskpane on the right side of the screen.

i like Steve's answer the best. he gives accurate information without "bagging" on one platform over another, as he clearly states that any of the platforms you mention will easily handle what you are trying to accomplish.



tiggsy's answer although biased and tainted, is also helpful if you were looking to use php, which is the ultimate "poor man's" web development platform. to say that php is "more powerful" than asp is utterly laughable. "suffering" from it's association with Microsoft is much more desirable in my mind than suffering from no association what-so-ever, except that of 10,000 pony-tailed computer geeks who would rather spend days configuring such esoteric web-server settings as server-side cache timeouts; typing away bash scripts to configure host headers and security settings than simply pointing, clicking and getting on with our lives.

If you do not know any of the web application development languages (jsp, php, asp) I suggest you try and go for a readymade solution like a content management system:



1) Drupal (highly recommended)



2) Joomla



3) PHPNuke



4) Postnuke



Using a CMS will save you a lot of time and effort
To change things dynamically, you'll need to be using javascript or another client side language. The only thing on your list that will rely on jsp/asp/php would be the search, forums, and the add/invite friends. Any of those can handle all three of those equally well. It's all a matter of preference. This might sound like a bad answer, but anybody who suggests one over the other is just saying what they like. Check out w3schools.com. They have good quick tutorials on all of them. Look at a few of each and pick which one you feel most comfortable with.

The language you choose is up to you.



Bear this in mind:



php is open source, and has a huge number of scripts and so on available free, because geeks worldwide are always writing new thingummies and offering them (some are better than others). It works very well with MySQL, which is also open source, and both products are almost always included in a hosting package without cost. I use it myself. If you have a problem, there's almost always someone online who has already worked out a solution, which you can find by searching on google. It's quite similar to c, i believe, but you don't declare variables, although you can cast them.



asp is microsoft's as you say. It is not as powerful as php, and it suffers from its association with ms. There are still scripts out there for free, though. "Regrettably, it is only properly supported on Microsoft's IIS platform thus ruling it out of contention for serious commercial users who care about security and reliability" according to http://training.gbdirect.co.uk/courses/p...

Java and JSP don't have such a high level of support online as php.



My rather biased opinion is that php is the way to go, maybe with some Flash if you want those really quite annoying menu icons you pointed out!

1. Changing pics dynamically, changing anything dynamically, is perfectly possible in php. In some cases you might need to use a little javascript as well.



2. Well, google will supply a search this site box, and their algorithm is pretty good, i would say.



3. You just setup the buttons in inc files named according to the page and dynamically included by the pagename

5. To what? tell-a-friend is easy, just a form, really.

The main reason for preferring open source over Microsoft or other closed source languages is that bugs in the actual language are much more quickly sorted out. A real life example of the problems that can be encountered is recounted in the article referred to above.



You have the choice to be blinkered and go for something that costs money, because it "must" be better, or to go for the industry standard, even if it IS free. The user of your site won't give a monkey's what you use, anyway.

My question to you is, why use publisher? Is it a requirement? If not, then you should download a program called Adobe Dreamweaver. Its an extremely powerful tool in website design, it lets you design by editing pages directly or buy scripting manually - like html or php. If you use a template, you can insert your own html extremely easily, its all self explanitory when you use the package. Its one of the most used programs on my PC and i highly recommend it. If you want a truly remarkable site, you could always try you hand at Flash, and either create a fully interactive Flash site or just incorporate it into a html page.



There are loads and loads of tutorials on both programs on the net. Just google search for them!! You can download templates and everything.



As regards uploading the site, you first need to find somewhere to host it - this is basically where you will store all your files (webpages, pictures etc) for each page on the net. The one i normally would use for small projects is www.fsphost.com. Its 100% free and has no adverts on it, most other free ones require adverts which distract from the site! You can pay for hosting if you really wantm but this can be expensive. If you want your own domain name like www.thisismyname.com/co.uk or whatever, this will cost you to. You can register a .co.uk for 2years for about 锟? or a .com for a year for about 锟?, just look around first. Some places will offer you the deal of buy a domain name, get free hosting, which is often the best way forward for smaller projects. I normally use ww.heartinternet.com to register my domains and host my sites but have been known to use mediatemple.com on occasion if i suits a clients needs more.



When you upload you first page (the one that will be the openig to your site), make sure you name it 'index' as this is what browsers look for in order for you page to be located.



Apart from that, you can find the rest on google!

Overview



Break your fields down into the smallest meaningful value. For example, create a separate field for First and Last names, break the City, State, and ZIP of an address into separate fields as well. Combining information in separate fields in a merge document is easy; separating information in a field is difficult. For an example of how difficult, see: I have a "Name" column which I want to split into "FirstName", "LastName", how can I do it?



You can refer to the First name of an individual in a salutation and then use the First and Last in the inside address. However, using a separate “Salutation” field gives you much more flexibility, because it lets you use “Joe” or “Mr Bloggs” as appropriate.



If you wish to use barcodes, the delivery address and postal code must be placed in separate fields Should you wish to sort by a specific piece of your information, it must be placed in a separate field. This is important if you want to be able to view or print data in alphabetical order by last name for a mailing list or directory but in ZIP code order when creating mailing labels or envelopes to qualify for bulk mailing rates.

Using Word as a Data Source

In Step 2 of the Mail Merge Helper, select Create Data Source.

Word displays a dialog box containing a default list of field names. You can use the fields provided and add/remove fields, or remove them all and create your own field names.



The order of the fields will become the data entry order. Use the Move Up/Move Down Commands to alter the order.



When all fields have been specified, select OK and Word will ask for a file name for your Data Source file.



Field Name specifications:



Each field name must be unique.



Field names can be up to 40 characters long.



Word field names cannot contain spaces.



No more than 63 fields can be used (Word 97 and later). If more are needed, then use an alternative Data Source. (In Word 95 and lower the limit was 31 fields).



Your Data Source is stored in a Word table. The first row in the table is called the Header row. Each row contains one record, and each column one field.

Next you will be asked to set up the Main Document or to Edit the Data Source. Select Edit Data Source.



Word provides you with a data entry form to enter your records. Use either %26lt;Tab%26gt; or %26lt;Enter%26gt; to move from field to field.



Once you enter the data in the last field, press %26lt;Enter%26gt; again to move to a new record. Otherwise select Add New Record.



To move to a previous field use %26lt;Shift Tab%26gt;.

After all records have been entered you are ready to edit your Main Document.



To return to the Data Source, locate Edit Data Source on the Mail Merge Toolbar.



Note that you don't have to use the data entry form. If you find it more convenient (as many users do), you can work directly with the data table by pressing the View Source button in the entry form.



Moreover, you can create this data table independently before beginning the merge process. In a blank document, insert a table with as many columns as you want merge fields. The first (heading) row of the table should contain the merge field names. Don't leave a blank row below the Heading Row; if you do, you will have a blank record, and the first page, item, label, or envelope in your merge will have blanks instead of merged data. As you add records, the table will grow, and you can sort the data on any column. Save this just as you would any Word document. When using the Mail Merge Helper, instead of choosing Create Data Source in the Get Data step, you will instead use Open Data Source to select the document in which you saved the data.

Using Excel as a Data Source



A Data Source in Excel, referred to in Excel as a list, must meet the following specifications:



Field names/column labels must be in the first row of the list, and field names must be unique.



There must not be a blank row between the field names and the first record.



If there is additional information on the worksheet, there must be at least one blank row or column separating the list from the other data.



There should be no empty columns or rows within the list.



If the field names/column labels are not in Row 1 of the worksheet, either create a named range for the list or add the AutoFilter feature to the list (Data/Filter/AutoFilter). The AutoFilter feature will automatically create a named range called _FilterDatabase. If you want to use lists from other worksheets, however, then using a named range is the best method. Note that if you ever add records to the bottom of the list you would need to redefine the named range. See Select Method (below) for additional details.

Word tells me it can't establish the DDE connection to Excel or Excel just won't start.



In Excel, go to Tools/Options/General and turn off “Ignore other Applications”.



I can only see the first worksheet of my Excel workbook when I open my Data Source.



By default Word uses the DDE method to connect to Excel. In the Open Data Source dialog box, check the “Select Method” option to view other methods.



Select Method Notes:



Excel files via ODBC: Named ranges are displayed by default. To specify a worksheet, click Options and select System Tables.



Microsoft Excel Worksheet via Converter will convert your worksheet into a Word document. If the file is saved in Word, it will permanently convert your Excel workbook into a Word document. You will no longer be able to open this file in Excel. Be cautious when using this method.



My ZIP codes are missing leading zeros.



In Excel, select Format/Cells, and on the Number tab in the Category section, select Special, and apply the Zip code format.



An AutoFilter is applied to my list in Excel and I'm getting blank records in Word.



In Word use Tools/Mail Merge and then select Query Options. Filter Records by one field using the “is not blank” criterion. Preferably this field should be one that would always contain an entry.
