No, you have to go or a warrant will be issued for you. You need to get there if it has been issued and put yourself on calendar. If you have an attorney, call him or her. Going to court is not an optional thing. If you are ordered to attend, attend.

Why are you missing court? There are very few acceptable excuses for missing court (ie. you are in the hospital or you pass away.) Not much else will excuse you from court, even if you send a letter.
An apology is next to useless.

A valid excuse might help, but don't count on it. You could /should have called when you knew you couldn't make it.
You need to CALL the judge's chambers, and speak with his secretary to find out when the next hearing will be held.

At the same time, explain why you did not show up, and request the Bench Warrant to be dismissed.

A quick call to the top is always the best way to get results.

BTW - If you miss your next court date, again - a bench warrant will be issued for your arrest, and you most likely will be picked up by the Sherif for failure to appear in court.
Don't waste your time. The judge has heard it all, and he won't be interested in your letter. If you haven't done so already, call the court and ask for another date to appear. You probably have a warrant out for your arrest. This is standard procedure when someone fails to appear, unless it's for a minor traffic ticket.

It's that simple you don't have to be super fancy just because it the Court system. Lawyers rearrange their schedules to suit their darn fishing schedules for cripes sakes!
In civil proceedings the judge may take a lenient view and condone your failure to attend if reasonable cause is shown. However in criminal proceedings if you are an accused person you are bound to appear on the stipulated day and date.I will advise you to immediately send a letter to the court assuring the court that you will appear on the next date of hearing. Also append a duly sworn affidavit citing therein the reasons of absence and your assurance that you will be there on the next date of hearing.This will not mitigate your failure to attend but it will certainly reflect your respect for the court's order and will certainly persuade the court of your good faith.
